About
The business in short: the Old Bridge properties we work on, how a job gets scoped and priced in writing, and the kinds of work we say no to.
Which water first, then where
Tidewick locates leaks in homes across Old Bridge Township, from bay bungalows to attached units. Locating is all we sell. Once the source is marked, the repair is ordinary plumbing, and any licensed plumber you choose can take it from the mark.
The order we work in is the point of the business. Supply water, drain water and groundwater are told apart before any search starts, because a house built before 1970 on low, wet ground can produce all three, and only two of them belong to a plumber.
Each price you read here is labeled an estimate and given as a band, because no verified local average exists. A band with its reasons attached is more use to you than one number nobody can check.
- Locating only; repairs are quoted separately
- Groundwater named as groundwater, never sold as a leak
- No yearly inspection plan on a sound system
- No figure until we know where the meter sits

How it runs
Four steps, no surprises
Which water it is and where it gets out, settled before anything is opened or dug.
Watch the meter, note the weather
With every faucet closed and nothing filling, watch the meter's low-flow indicator for a minute, then again an hour later. Note too whether the water you are seeing turned up after rain. Those two facts decide most of the first phone call.
Tell us where the meter lives
A pit near the curb or the basement wall. It changes which leaks the dial can see at all: a buried line feeding an inside meter can leak for weeks without moving it, and then the yard is the evidence.
We sort before we search
Supply, drains and groundwater are tested apart — pressure on the lines, water run through the drains, the timing checked against the rain. Equipment comes out once the problem belongs to one system.
The source, marked and written down
A mark on the wall, floor or lawn, a note of how it was found, and a plain description of the repair it points to. Hire anyone you like for that repair; the mark and the note belong to you.
Before you hire anyone
Five questions for any leak detection company, us included
Each one is about method, because a method can be checked and a promise cannot.
Did they ask whether it rained?
Water that follows the weather is usually not a plumbing leak. A company that asks about rain before quoting a search is ruling out the cheapest answer first.
Did they ask where the meter is?
A curb pit or a basement wall changes what the meter can see. Without that answer, nobody can say whether a still dial clears your service line.
Are finding and fixing quoted separately?
They should be. Locating and repairing are separate jobs, and a marked leak can go to any licensed plumber on your list.
Can I check your license?
New Jersey licenses master plumbers through the State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers, and the Division of Consumer Affairs lets anyone look a license up online. It takes a minute.
Will you tell me if it is groundwater?
A visit that ends with 'this is not a pipe' is a good outcome, not a wasted one. Ask whether that answer is on the table before you book.
